Waive Henry Sims

The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have signed center Lou Amundson for the remainder of the season and released Henry Sims. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.

Amundson, a University of Nevada-Las Vegas product, appeared in one regular season game for the Chicago Bulls after signing a 10-day contract on March 2nd, 2013. Originally signed this season by Minnesota as an unrestricted free agent on September 25th, 2012. Amundson played 20 regular season games with the Timberwolves before being waived on February 8th, 2013. In 21 total contests this season, Amundson averaged 1.5 points, 2.3 rebounds in 7.8 minutes of play.

The 6’9” forward/center is in his seventh NBA season, he originally went undrafted in the 2006 NBA Draft. Amundson originally signed with the Sacramento Kings on July 8, 2006. The UNLV product played on two 10-day contracts with the Jazz and 76ers before having more prolonged Stints with the Suns, Warriors and Pacers appearing in 288 games over his first six seasons. The veteran big holds career averages of 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 12.9 minutes in over 308 games.

Sims was originally signed on March 3, 2013 and appeared in two contests as a Hornet averaging 2.0 points and 1.0 rebound in 2.5 minutes per game.
