The New Orleans Hornets and Richard’s Disposal will dedicate a refurbished basketball court at Lawrence Square Park (corner of Magazine St. and Napoleon–Uptown) in New Orleans on Tuesday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m. Hornets Radio Play-by-Play Announcer Sean Kelley will host the event and Hugo and the Honeybees will be on hand to help dedicate the court.

Hornets General Manager Dell Demps, Alvin Richard, Founder and CEO of Richard’s Disposal and Vic Richards, CEO of NORDC will be on-hand during the dedication and will be available to media directly following the short ceremony. The team will also provide a free basketball clinic on the courts directly following the presentation.

“We are grateful to Richard’s Disposal for joining us in providing New Orleans youth with a place to exercise, grow and enjoy the game of basketball,” said Hornets Rita Benson-LeBlanc, Owner/Vice Chairman of the Hornets and Saints. “These playgrounds not only help the Hornets family interact directly with the local residents, but it also connects the residents with their neighborhood and gives them something they can be proud of.”

“We were happy to be able to team up with the Hornets on refurbishing the court in the Uptown area,” said Richard. “This facility will impact its community in such a positive way by giving children a place to play and spend time with their friends. Our relationship with the Hornets has given us the opportunity to make a difference in the community through the MVP program and we are thrilled to partner with them again on the court.”

The court at Lawrence Square Park, one of NORDC’s 35 facilities in the Greater New Orleans Area, will be painted to replicate the Hornets hardwood at the New Orleans Arena.
