Hornets (21-41), Lakers (31-31)

It was over when… Kobe Bryant tracked down a rebound off a New Orleans missed corner three-pointer, then sank two free throws, giving the Lakers a six-point lead with 5.5 seconds remaining, the capper on an incredible Los Angeles comeback. After a frustrating defeat Monday vs. Orlando, the Hornets may have topped it in terms of bitter emotions, failing to score Wednesday in the final 6:47. New Orleans led 102-88 midway through the fourth quarter, but never scored again during the Lakers’ 20-0 run. The Hornets looked as good as they have all season during much of the first three-plus quarters, but couldn’t finish it off in a brutal ending.
