1)      Today’s Black & Blue Report is another must-listen. Pelicans assistant coach Bryan Gates stops by the show to discuss his training for an upcoming triathlon, part of Gates’ efforts to raise money and help a family whose father was killed in a tragic accident while visiting New Orleans. Like Gates, the man was a father of triplets. The man, Frank Guinn of Atlanta, was visiting New Orleans in April in order to compete in an Ocshner triathlon, but was struck by a motorist while cycling on Chef Menteur Highway on April 11 and died. Guinn was a firefighter in Atlanta.

2)      The final day of July is also the last afternoon of USA Basketball practice in Las Vegas. The American squad, including Pelicans All-Star Anthony Davis, will compete in a showcase game Friday (8 p.m. Central, ESPN) at the Thomas & Mack Center.

3)      Read about how the Pelicans could have an even larger presence at USA camp if not for injuries to Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday, two 2013 USAB participants.

4)      Watch video coverage of USA Basketball, featuring extensive interviews so far this week in Las Vegas.

5)      Check out photos from USA training camp featuring Davis and Monty Williams.
