Before this week I had a very short list of the most famous people or things named Monty I had ever heard of:

Monty Python British comedy group
Monty Hall Former host of Lets Make A Deal, a TV game show that ran from 1963-1986
The Full Monty 1997 British comedy film about six unemployed workers who form a male stripease act to raise money. They strip all the waythus the title.

But with the New Orleans Hornets hiring of Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach Monty Williams as their new head coach I can finally add a name to my list whos also someone I actually know and will soon work with here in the Crescent City.

So, who is this relatively unknown, rising coaching star named the Hornets third head coach in eight months?

Since HEADLINES have been a heavy source of information since last season ended lets deliver the (full) Monty story by the numbers.

Total NBA title rings Monty Williams has won (2004-2005 SA Spurs as a coaching intern).

Number of children Monty and his wife, Ingrid, have. That number will increase by one as the couple are expecting their fifth child this summer. Also, the number of NBA head coaches who have won a championship in the league who he has either played for or coached with (Gregg Popovich, Larry Brown, Pat Riley, and Doc Rivers). By the way, four is also the number of hours many of Williams practices lasted when he played for Riley in New York.

Number of NBA teams Monty Williams played for (NY, SA, Den, Orl, Phi). Also, the number of seasons he served as Assistant coach under Nate McMillan in Portland.

The height of the Hornets new head coach.
