The Hornets announced the hiring of assistant coaches Randy Ayers and Fred Vinson on Wednesday, completing the staff for the 2010-11 season. You can listen to head coach Monty Williams and Ayers speak to the New Orleans media in our audio section.

A few of the noteworthy points from the interviews:

• Williams, making his debut as a head coach, stressed Ayers’ lengthy experience in the NBA and basketball. “I needed a guy who was going to help me navigate through these waters I’ve never been through before,” Williams said.

• Williams said Vinson was added to the staff as an “assistant coach-slash-player development guy.” Vinson will focus on working with young players Quincy Pondexter Craig Brackins, Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton.

• Mike Malone is Williams’ lead assistant.
