USA Basketball wrapped up the tune-up portion of its schedule Tuesday, holding off Australia 87-76 to improve to 4-0 in exhibition games. Over 17 minutes of playing time, Hornets point guard Chris Paul handed out five assists, to go along with four points (2-for-4 shooting) and three rebounds. The 6-footer fouled out with 1:04 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Americans, who led by 12 through three quarters, were paced by Dwyane Wades 22-point outing. Australia was playing without top center Andrew Bogut of the Milwaukee Bucks. The only Aussie on the roster with previous NBA experience was center Chris Anstey, who played a total of three seasons with Dallas and Chicago.
