Finally, Brackins and Pondexter officially Hornets

By: Jim Eichenhofer,

It's been an unusual past two weeks in relation to the draft-night trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, considering that no one from the New Orleans Hornets organization was allowed to comment on either Craig Brackins or Quincy Pondexter, despite knowing that they would be joining the team eventually. That changed this morning, when the Hornets finalized the four-player deal, sending Cole Aldrich and guard Morris Peterson to OKC in exchange for the rights to Craig Brackins and Quincy Pondexter.

Brackins and Pondexter were not allowed to participate in any team activity this morning prior to their contracts being finalized, but once they officially became New Orleans property, it became fair game for, as well as the Hornets' front office, to talk about the new rookies.

I spoke extensively this morning with both Jeff Bower and Brian Hagen about the new players. We also held a joint interview with Brackins and Pondexter on the campus of UNLV, their first media interaction after they officially became Hornets players. We're heading back over to UNLV later for the rookies' first summer league practice, but in the meantime, I'll try to post as much information here and on Twitter ( as I can from today's chats.
