Friday will mark the initial day of Hornets draft workouts, with six prospects who’ve completed their college careers traveling to New Orleans in order to perform for the team. All workouts are scheduled to be held at the Alario Center in Westwego.

We’re planning to provide similar coverage of Hornets workouts on Hornets.com as we have in the past, with interviews of each of the attendees. For select players throughout this month leading up to the June 25 draft, there will also be interviews you can listen to in Hornets.com’s audio section.

In addition, for the first time this year, I will be providing Twitter updates from the Alario Center via the team’s official account, @hornetsdotcom. Beginning Friday morning prior to each workout day, check the Big Easy Buzz blog for the names and bio information of the players who have been invited by the Hornets.

Review of 2008-09 continues with Posey

Hornets forward James Posey concludes our look back at the team’s 2008-09 reserves today. There will be five more player articles appearing on Hornets.com prior to the draft, as we review New Orleans’ starters.

Posey, the lone Hornets player who’s made major contributions to multiple NBA championship teams, chose to sign here in July 2008 despite offers from several contenders. I remember first interviewing Posey a few years ago when he played for Denver. Posey re-told the story of how when he was a rookie, a few of his veteran Nuggets teammates made fun of him after they watched Posey dive all over the gym for loose balls – even during preseason practices. Despite the toll that all-out style of play takes on his body, not much has changed for Posey nine years into his pro career.

Posey was one of four Hornets players we chose this season to “blog” for us, based on his extensive knowledge and experience in the NBA (joining Melvin Ely, Ryan Bowen and Julian Wright). Though soft-spoken, Posey always provided an interesting perspective in his “Pose Knows” blog. By the way, I have to give an assist to Hornets.com contributor Will McClaran for coming up with that title. If you’re too young to remember, that was an allusion to the popular “Bo Knows” Nike TV commercials featuring multi-sport star Bo Jackson.
