In some ways, Julian Wright’s second season in the NBA represented a significant jump from his rookie campaign. For example, during March and April, he started 17 consecutive games. As a first-year pro, he only started once. Wright also played 132 more minutes in 2008-09 than he had in 2007-08.

On the flip side, he actually appeared in three fewer regular season games. He also saw a diminishing role as the playoffs progressed: as a rookie, he received a DNP-coach’s decision in Game 7 of the playoffs vs. the Spurs. This year, he only appeared in the postseason against Denver during fourth-quarter mop-up time.

Off the court, the always-polite and friendly “JuJu” has become one of the most popular players among Hornets fans. That’s a big reason why he was one of the four Hornets we chose to write a player blog during the 2008-09 season. The 22-year-old has also embraced some of the new technology that allows NBA players to interact directly with fans, including Facebook. Wright is one of three Hornets players on Twitter (his account is www.twitter.com/jujubee32), along with Rasual Butler and Tyson Chandler.
