Off the Court: Eric Gordon

New Orleans shooting guard Eric Gordon sat down with Hornets.com to discuss some of his interests away from basketball. The Indiana University product is a four-year NBA veteran.

People who had the most influence on his development off the court: “My dad and my grandfather.”

Best moment as an athlete: “Being on the USA Basketball team.”

How he chose his current uniform number: “When I was 10 years old, that was when I really dedicated myself to basketball. I wore 23 in high school and college, but as soon as I made it to the NBA, I knew 10 was the number I wanted to wear.”

One thing fans would be surprised to know: “That I can be a comedian at times, even though I am more of a quiet person.”

Favorite thing about New Orleans: “For sure the food and the weather.”

Pregame ritual: “I usually eat a lot of watermelon and put up about 200 shots before every game.”

First job: “Playing in the NBA.”

Favorite athlete as a kid: “Michael Jordan.”

What he’d be doing if he weren’t an NBA player: “Probably selling real estate or something like that.”

Closest friends playing on other NBA teams: “Derrick Rose is one of my good friends. DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin.”

Favorite type of music: “Mostly rap and R&B. I like Drake, Lil’ Wayne and Rick Ross."

Favorite TV shows: “The Steve Harvey Show and The Game.”

Favorite movie of all time: “Scarface.”
