Rockets (30-31), Hornets (35-26)

It was over when… Courtney Lee made 1 of 2 free throws with 6 seconds remaining, giving Houston a four-point lead. The Rockets won their fourth straight and were celebrating excitedly after a big road win against a Southwest Division rival. New Orleans sustained one of its toughest home defeats of 2010-11, after leading by 15 points at halftime.

Hornets MVP: David West had one of his better all-around games of the season, with 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block. The two-time All-Star has compiled many of his best performances against the Rockets, including a career-best of 44 points at Houston in December 2009.

Hornets Sixth Man of the Game: Marco Belinelli was outstanding, scoring a dozen points in the second quarter on 5-for-6 shooting. He tacked on a difficult, contested jumper in the fourth quarter to finish with 14 points in only 15 minutes of playing time. His good games have outnumbered his bad ones since he was moved to a reserve role earlier this month.

The buzz on… Game 2 for Carl Landry. After struggling in his Hornets debut offensively with a 1-for-5 shooting game, the fourth-year pro showed plenty of the skills that have made him one of the NBA’s best reserves. He was active all game around the basket, throwing down a dunk quickly after being inserted into the game in the first quarter, then rejected a Rockets shot shortly thereafter. Overall, Landry had 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting in 20 minutes.

Blog question of the night: The Hornets begin a five-game road trip Tuesday north of the border with a game in Toronto. They then will visit New York, Memphis, Cleveland and Chicago. How many victories on this five-game trek would constitute a successful Mardi Gras road trip for New Orleans?
