A look at where national websites rank the Hornets in the power polls (rankings were each released prior to Monday's three-point win over the Pacers):

NBA.com (7th, down 1 spot): “The Hornets went 5-4 in a stretch where they played seven of the nine games on the road, alternating wins and losses. Now they play nine of their next 11 at home, against a lot of teams they should beat. Of course, they should have beaten the Knicks at home on Monday, but they didn't.”

ESPN.com (7th, down 1 spot): “We'll continue to leave most of the math to Hollinger, but sometimes even the state-schoolers can spot a trend. No fancy formulas needed to see that the up-and-down Hornets are 18-1 when they score at least 97 points.”

SI.com (8th, down 2 spots): “A loss to the Knicks (as part of a 2-2 week) exemplified a roller-coaster season filled with big wins (Lakers, Cavaliers) and puzzling losses (Kings, Knicks). Coach Byron Scott would like to see more consistency from the reserves. ‘They're going to be very important to come into the game and sustain what the starters have done or pick up the level of intensity,’ Scott said.”
