Anthony Davis officially ruled out of game vs. Cleveland

UPDATE: Roughly an hour prior to tip-off, New Orleans ruled Anthony Davis out of Monday's game due to a right quad contusion.

Pelicans second-year head coach Alvin Gentry was uncertain whether his best player would be available Monday vs. Cleveland, telling media that a decision on Anthony Davis (right quad contusion) will be made soon.

“It doesn’t look good,” Gentry said in his pregame meeting with reporters. “We’re going to find out in the next 10 or 15 minutes.

“I don’t know what the technical term is for it, but the old, layman’s basketball term is he got a Charley horse. He was kneed and it’s a little bit sore. He’s having trouble moving laterally, so we’ll see if he can do anything in the next 15 or 20 minutes. Obviously if he can’t, we won’t play him.”

Gentry added that if Davis is unable to play, Terrence Jones will move into his vacated starting spot. Jones would join Jrue Holiday, Buddy Hield, Solomon Hill and Dante Cunningham.
