Hornets.com caught up with Memphis Grizzlies rookie and Pau Gasols brother Marc Gasol, prior to Saturdays game at the New Orleans Arena. Marc who was selected by the Lakers in the 2007 NBA Draft but was traded to Memphis (the Grizzlies acquired his draft rights along with Javaris Crittenton, Kwame Brown, Aaron McKie and two future first-round picks) for his brother Pau on Feb. 1, 2008. The Spanish rookie has started 18 games for the Grizzlies averaging 11.4 points, 6.8 rebounds.

Hornets.com: What has been your best moment in the NBA so far?
Gasol: Our first win at home against the Orlando Magic.

Hornets.com: What was it like being traded for your own brother?
Gasol: It was no big deal. I wasnt even here (United States). I wasnt even sure that I was going to be playing in the NBA this year. I was just happy for Pau being able to go where he wanted to go.

Hornets.com: How often do you talk to Pau?
Gasol: We talk daily.

Hornets.com: Why did you choose the #33?
Gasol: I played high school with it and I have always liked it. When I grew up a lot of players that I liked wore it like Larry Bird, Shaquille O Neal (in high school and college) and I think Kobe wore #33 in high school too. Its just a number I like.

Hornets.com: You played some high school basketball in Memphis. How was that experience?
Gasol: It was great. It helped me a lot. Obviously at the time I didnt know I was going to play for the Grizzlies. It helped me with my English and I got to know the city. It really helped me a lot.

Hornets.com: Who was the player you looked up to growing up?
Gasol: Shaq, definitely.

Hornets.com: What is your favorite sport besides basketball?
Gasol: Tennis. I am a big fan of Rafael Nadal and he is a good friend too. Rafael and Federer are the top two and are really fun to watch.

Hornets.com: Which player did you enjoy playing against in the gold medal Game vs. the USA?
Gasol: Kobe. You always want to battle with the best players. It was definitely a great game.

Hornets.com: Sushi is listed as your favorite food, What is your favorite kind?
Gasol: I like prime tuna.

Hornets.com: Is Friends still your favorite TV show?
Gasol: Definitely!

Hornets.com: Who is your favorite Friends character?
Gasol: I like a piece of everyone. I like a part of Joey, I like Chandler. I like little parts of each character.

Hornets.com: Since being in the NBA have you had a chance to meet any celebrities?
Gasol: No, not in Memphis [laughs]. When I was in Los Angeles last year for the NBA Finals I was able to meet some celebrities but no Friends stars.
