Hornets Post Game Quotes
Head Coach Monty Williams
On trying to overcome poor rebounding and free throw numbers:
Probably, I think anytime you have those kinds of numbers, you are minus ten on the boards and you didnt get to the free throw line (you will lose). We only shot seven free throws tonight and had seventeen turnovers. Its a recipe for what we got tonight. The frustrating part is that we played so well in Minnesota. To come back here and have this kind of output tonight is frustrating. I thought the second and third quarter lapse we had really put us in a hole. It just didnt seem like we got our legs under us until we got down. By that time, you are playing in desperation. You have to have everything go right in that situation.
On failing to finish the comeback attempt:
They missed some shots. We went zone to change the defense. It is easy for me to say that they did certain things to let us back in. They just missed some shots and we started to attack the basket. Jarretts foul hard to swallow. I dont know how plays like that are called down the stretch. Obviously, I have a different point view than the refs. That was not the reason we came out of that hole. We came out after half time going through the motions. We always knew that coming back from the road is tough, but we shouldnt have played like this."
Hornets Guard Jarrett Jack
On thoughts on coming back from 11 down:
We came back. We got ourselves in a hole in the second half but we fought back and put ourselves in position to win it at the end. Coach drew up a good play at the end and Trevor (Ariza) got the ball and took it to the basket, but they just made a good play at the end.
On the offensive call at the end of the game:
It was a tough call to make with 30 seconds to go. I didnt feel like I extended my arm. It just is what it is.
Hornets Forward Trevor Ariza
On the last shot:
It was a good play called by coach and I didnt expect to be able to get to the basket. They just made a good play on the ball. This was a bad loss for us. Even for us this is a bad loss. This is a game we should have won.
Bobcats Post Game Quotes
Head Coach Paul Silas
On the physical play and rebounding:
We were not boxing out before and tonight we did. We rebounded the ball conceptually well; and I really love what Tyrus Thomas did. He works so hard and we were just very, very happy to get the win.
On Gerald Henderson:
He did look well. Hes coming around now and I was hoping D. J. Augustin could continue (playing well), but Kemba (Walker) came in and played conceptually well. So, whoever comes in and plays well is going to play and well see how it goes.
On sticking out the Hornets run for the win:
I really am (proud). I could just see ourselves fading at the end of the game, but we hung in there. For the last play of the game, Bismack (Biyombo) came in and blocked the shot and gave us the win. That was awesome. For a kid 19 years old and really has not played the game this much, he retained exactly what we talked about and came up with the big block.
Bobcats Center Bismack Biyombo
On the blocked shot:
First, I thought we were going into overtime. Second, I thought Ive got to go for the block. Because coach said dont switch, because once you switch, you know they expect that and they have a big man under the bucket who can get the ball. So we had to be smart. I had to make a decision and once I saw him jumping in the air, I thought I can block that shot. I thought just jump smart and dont foul. Thank God, we got the victory.
Bobcats Guard Gerald Henderson
On his play:
I just have to find the right spots. That got me going a little bit. It helped to get good screens. We did a good job of getting up. Theyre an NBA team. Everybody is going to make their run in the NBA. It didnt help that we were scoring and then couldnt score at all. But we made the play at the very end and it feels good to get a win.
On the play of Bismack Biyombo:
When he went by me, I just knew Bismack was going to be there. I didnt know if they were going to call the foul or not, but I knew he was going to go up and get the ball. He made a hell of a play. Its very comforting to have a guy like that back there. Youre going to get beat sometimes. You try to guard your guy the best you can, but theres good offense out here in the NBA. Just having him there to help you out is great. He takes pride in protecting the basket, so its usually a positive play for us.
