Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Monty Williams
On the Bulls' toughness on defense:
They were absolutely tougher than us in the second half. We came out like we were champions in the first (half). This was one of those games where you cant blame it on the refs or being tired. There was no effort, no sense of urgency and we tried to play late. Minutes left in the game, and then we wanted to play with energy. They were much better than us tonight with boards, and to miss 13 free-throws on your home floor is inexcusable.

On the effort of the team:
I thought we talked about the things we did in halftime and maybe that got us a little soft, but on your home floor after a win we had last night you would expect to put that team away or at least win convincingly or just simply play with effort. I didnt see any effort from a number of positions. The bench we didnt get the productions we have been getting. Marcus Thornton came in and gave us a spurt, but for the most part we just didnt play smart tonight. They put pressure on us and we pretty much just backed down and there is no other way to put it.

On the difference in the second half:
Guys just didnt knock down shots. Teams have been taking Chris Paul out all year long and guys have been stepping up to make plays and you have to give them credit. They went in and didnt change anything and I think they just jacked up their defense. To me that was like a playoff game and we just didnt respond.

Im not going to excuse myself from the situation. I put guys in at the second half that didnt deserve to play. That falls on my shoulders. We are all in this together. We can blame it on the back-to-back because we have been playing well in those the whole year. We werent all on the same page tonight and had a lapse.

Hornets Guard Willie Green
On the loss:
We are scratching and clawing trying to find ways to win games, but we have to find ways to get better and put two halves together. Tonight, I thought in the first half we came out with energy and we played well. But in the second half it was different. They (Chicago) were more aggressive and you have give them a lot of credit. They came here and were able to take us on.

On it being harder to win games:
It has been like that, maybe for the last five or six games. Teams are getting us down late in the shot clock, but we have to do a better job of getting to our offense fast and continue to get better on defense. I think it is just a situation where everybody has to look at themselves in the mirror and do better than we did tonight.

Hornets Guard Marcus Thornton
On what went different in the second half:
I think they (Chicago) just played harder than us in the second half. We played hard but they beat us on the boards, offensive and defensive boards. Thats not us; were a defensive team and we did not show that in the second half.

On Chicagos defense in the second half:
Chicago played great defense. They are similar to us. Coach (Williams) said to load on one side and then to load on the other side. So they are similar to us and they are a great team. We have to find a way to get in right in the second half next time.

Bulls Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Tom Thibodeau
On the play of the bench:
It was a good win. I thought our bench was great. They gave us a big lift and allowed our starters to get rest and come back and finish the game strong. Omer (Asik), Ronnie (Brewer), Taj (Gibson). C.J. (Watson) were great, and that allowed us to give Derrick (Rose) some rest, which was very good. The rest helped Carlos (Boozer) too. He finished strong on several lay-ups at the end of the game. The defense and rebounding was very good.

On the defense:
At the start of the game, I thought it was very good. Second quarter they pretty much had their way with us. We werent finishing our defense, not giving the appropriate help, so we gave them easy scores. Third quarter we fought our way back, got within striking distance, then our bench was very, very good. They were active, and I thought the rebounding was excellent. And we finished the game strong. Things werent going our way. But I think we hung tough. We had too many turnovers, but we hustled back several times and prevented scores.

Bulls Guard Derrick Rose
On the win:
"A win is always great especially at the end of the trip against a good team like the Hornets. At first our defense wasnt up to par and they jumped out on us, but we fought back and did a much better job in the second half. We did a better job of communicating in the second half and better job of getting stops. Our defense was better because we made sure we helped out and closed out lanes.

Bulls Center Kurt Thomas
On stopping David West:
"I just tried to stay in front of him and make him work for everything. I just tried to keep my body on him and make it difficult for him. He got off of me a couple of times, but hes a great offensive player and you just have to play hard the entire game.
