Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Monty Williams

On if the late game situations frustrate him:
No, they dont. When I look at this game, I see guys who fought, who competed, who were put in a tough situation and battled all night. Right now, Im proud to be around a group of guys who fight no matter what the situation. We are playing against one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and they needed 31 points from Jamal Crawford off the bench and had to go to a 2-3 zone to keep us from scoring. Yes, we have to get better down the stretch, but we had guys out there who had never been in that position, and it was a good learning experience for those guys.

On Trevor Arizas performance:
He was good everywhere. When (Jamal) Crawford got going, we put him on Crawford, and you didnt hear from Crawford anymore. To have 23 points, nine boards and five assists; he played 46 minutes and barely got a break. Im pretty sure teams are going to be calling for him, some veteran teams, because he does the things that help you win games. I hate that we havent been able to capitalize on some of the play hes been giving us defending the ball, scoring, making his free throws, leadership. I think hes grown a ton since hes been here in New Orleans, and its only going to help him throughout his career.

Hornets Forward Trevor Ariza

On last seconds of the game:
Try to get a stop on the other end. Try to be solid. That is what the thought was. They are a good team too, so they know how to play down the stretch and they showed it tonight by winning this one.

On Coach Williams about veterans leading:
I saw a lot of it. I thought Mek was big, as far as coaching Gustavo on how to guard their all star LaMarcus Aldridge. I think they did a great job on him. I think our young guys stepped up and played well tonight.

On his minutes and scoring tonight:
I do whatever it takes to win. I dont care how many minutes I played, how many points I scored. I would rather score zero points and win, then score whatever and lose. We are trying everything to get a win and thats what we are playing for.

Trail Blazers Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Nate McMillan

On the win:
It was one of the things we talked about before the game was we needed to get a win. Sometimes its not about how you win, but the fact that you win. New Orleans played hard and they scrapped and played a good game. We did the things we needed to do down the stretch. We had to work and execute. We did not rebound the ball well the first half. We had to rebound and get stops the second half, and we did that to get a win.

On struggling offensively in the first half:
We did talk about that (at halftime). We did struggle the first half. We could not put anything in the basket. In the second half, we continued to work and try to be aggressive and execute our offense. (Jamal) Crawford had a good game going. I felt he made some shots. We missed a couple, but we made shots and free throws when we needed to.

On taking control down the stretch:
Thats one of the things you need to do down the stretch. Guys have do it whether it is guys coming up with a block or a rebound on offense or setting a good screen for a teammate. I thought about going big, but we needed offense also. We needed rebounds and we needed offense; and that small ball was working for us. I thought Gerald (Wallace) came up with a big block and a big rebound down the stretch.

Trail Blazers Guard Jamal Crawford

On scoring a game-high 31 points:
It was a team effort. We have two all stars here in Gerald Wallace and LaMarcus Aldridge that make it easy. I was just playing my role. I was trying to spark the game from the bench.

On struggling offensively:
I felt we just needed some energy. I just felt we were struggling scoring-wise and we shot from the perimeter and we needed to take the energy from them (Hornets).
