Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Monty Williams
On the teams overall performance:
To start, we gave up 29 points in the first and then came out and gave up 32 in the 3rd. We just couldnt defend anybodyI thought some of our bench guys didnt even compete. Weve got to get some production from our guards coming off the bench. I thought Willie (Green) did a good job getting himself involved offensively and defensively but across the board our bench production from our guards has been shabby.

On Kevin Durants game:
Durant, he hit some shots that there is just no defense for. Some of that stuff is the same that Chris (Paul) does and David (West) does and you cant overcome that but what I didnt like is that some of our guys put their heads down tonight and let that get to them.

More on Durant:
Hes probably the MVP of the league right now. You put a string of games together like that and you put yourself in a different class. When you play with that kind of confidence and when they play really well together especially here (OKC) then hes not just a special player; he becomes a standard for that position. When you do that, you put yourself in a different class.

Hornets Forward David West
On the game:
We felt like we got off to a good start. We got a little banged-up tonight but we still had control of the game at half. We just didnt have an answer. We couldnt match them offensively or defensively or force Kevin (Durant) into a tough nightI thought there were a couple key possessions where we may have had it; it was like down just 7 or 5 points but Durant made some tough plays."

On the Thunder:
Their guys would just get that offensive rebound and kick it back out for extra possessions. We just didnt put together a complete game. Were going to beat anybody when we let somebody score in the 40s (Durant 43pts)."

Hornets Center David Andersen
On his overall performance (6-8 FGs, 13 points off the bench):
Opportunities and stuff; when they come around you have to do the best that you can. Its about helping the guys try to get wins and I just try to do what I can. Opportunities emerged and I just took hold of it. Well see what happens going forward now and we do have injuries so guys will have to step-up and get a lot of team effort out there.

Thunder Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Scott Brooks
It was a good win, we played against a good team and one of the best point guards in the NBA. I thought our guys came out in the second half with a lot of great energy defensively. They (the Hornets) are team that does a great job of executing their sets. They have a couple of guys that are tough to guard in (David) West and Chris (Paul). When Russell went out with his fourth foul I thought Eric Maynor really stepped-up and controlled the game and found our shooters.

On the performance of Durant, Collison and Ibaka:
Kevin really had the hot hand tonight and we were really searching out some good shots for him. Nick (Collison) as always sets great screens. I thought Serge (Ibaka) gave us good energy from the start. On his first three possessions he got three rebounds and thats what we want from him every night. I thought he was really good and he protected the basket and rebounded the ball. He was active tonight and thats what we need from him.

On the play of Eric Maynor:
I have confidence in Eric. Eric is a heady point guard. He is another kid on our team who is going to continue to get better. I thought he really controlled the game. He was guarding one of the best point guards in the league (Chris Paul) and thats not always easyI thought Eric did a good job of staying in front of him and making him take tough shots.

On Kevin Durants performance:
Its about as good as it gets. He is a terrific player. He works and he is continuing to learn how to come off of screens better. Nick, Serge, Jeff Green and Nenad (Krstic) do a great job of getting him open and freeing him up.

Thunder Forward Kevin Durant
On tonights performance:
I thought we did a good job on the defensive end in the second half. We played hard, made some plays, big plays and made some big shots.

On Eric Maynor:
That was the longest stretch that Ive seen Eric on the floor. I thought he did a great job getting to the lane, shooting floaters and controlling the pace of the game. Hes so poised for a point guard especially in just his second year. Thats what we needed; he came in and stepped up for Russell (Westbrook) who had some foul trouble.

On defense:
I dont know why we started out slow but we got it going now. Id rather have two quarters of good defense than nothing at all. We have t figure out how to start the game out right and finish it out right. We got one half going now we need to get the other half.

Thunder Forward Jeff Green
On tonights defensive performance:
Intensity, I think we came out a little flat. We have to take pride in guarding our man one-on-one.

On Eric Maynor:
He pushed the ball. After stops he got us out into the open court and made some plays. He controlled the tempo and thats what a guard is supposed to do. He was able to give Russell a big breather, keep us on track and helped us get a big lead.

On Kevin Durants play as of late:
Amazing. Hes been scoring the ball with ease. Hes been able to get any type of shot he wanted and shooting the ball real well. Hopefully it continues.
