Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Monty Williams
On the game:
Well I didnt expect that kind of production from Jason, but if you told me D. West was going to go 3-for-10 and we hold a team to 89 points, I wouldnt have expected that tonight either. We had a number of things go our way tonight. I thought our defense was sound for the most part early. In the late third quarter we gave up some easy stuff but, I thought Jason and Aaron tonight gave us stuff we didnt expect. Aaron on the boards and his presence in the paint, and you have Jason knocking down shots. I thought his energy was in the right place. A lot of times he can jump around and run for no reason. Tonight he was on the boards, he was running on the break, and he did some good stuff."

On having production from the entire team:
We are trying to put it together. I thought David Anderson gave us some good minutes as well. I think we are going to have to do things by committee until we can get Mek (Emeka Okafor) back. It was pretty scary watching Chris go down and grab his ankle again, but he toughed it out. Willie (Green) again gave us good minutes, and like I said we are going to have to do this by committee until we can get our crew back on the floor, but its the NBA, nobody is going to feel sorry for us. We will have our hands full tomorrow night."

Hornets Forward/Center Jason Smith
On his night:
It was a great feeling. We had a good team win. I just had to go out there and play aggressive.

On filling in for Emeka Okafor:
I was just trying to fill the void. He anchors our defense so well, and we really miss him and need to get him back healthy.

On his hot shooting:
I was just trying to be aggressive. Just attacking the basket and really trying to help our team win.

Hornets Center Aaron Gray
On his injury:
I just told coach, if he needed me I would be ready to go. He had the confidence to put me in, and with the understanding of one of our premier players like Emeka out, that other guys had to step up. I think Jason (Smith) did a good job of that and I think D-West, Chris (Paul), and Trevor (Ariza) constantly helping me and Jason on the court. Every time I came to the bench Emeka was just telling me some things to help the team. Having those pieces around me is just great, and I was happy we got the win.

Wizards Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Flip Saunders
On the play of the team tonight:
John just didnt have it. We just didnt seem to have thatmatch of physicality. It will be good to get home. The negative thing is we would really like to get one of these road wins. Were beating a dead horse, again. Its unfortunate, but we have a chance to regroup at home and hopefully get a little rhythm. Maybe get Josh [Howard] back. Get healthy. Weve got some guys whove been sick for the last week. Get healthy and try to make a run here.

Wizards Guard Nick Young
On the loss:
We took some shots that should have went in. There were some plays that we should have made. Thats always the key to the game. Once we get the little things together, I think that with our aggression out there and our heart, well pull one out.

On playing hard on the road trip:
We played some of the top teams (in the league) on this trip. We have to bring that same intensity when we play teams that were really capable of beating. Every game we have to play the same way and keep going hard and keep it up.

Wizards Center Andray Blatche
On battling hard, but coming up short again tonight:
Were not giving in and were not giving up. Were just playing scared. Its tough when you fight for the whole game and you come up short. We came here with a lot of effort. Even though we didnt get a win, hopefully, we will take the same attitude and mindset back with us for the rest of the season. Im sure that if we keep playing like were playing, were going to pull off a road win.
