Hornets Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Monty Williams

On the fourth quarter:
It was hard taking control. It just puts more pressure on you. Ive never been one to work with other people, but I have to do it now. I have to do a better job of putting guys in the right position to win games."

On the next step to close out games:
Ive thought about a few things. We have to look at the film first before I make a rash decision. I know there are some things I can do better to help our guys.

On the locker room after the loss:
They are frustrated. They thought tonight they had a chance to win and it did not go our way. I just trust on what they do and put pressure on them. They are athletic and well-coached and I thought they got help from our bench tonight. We took some tough shots and some good shots right out of the fourth quarter.

Hornets Center Chris Kaman

On the game:
We did a good job on the boards. We only had 13 turnovers. They had eight, but we shot the ball pretty well and from the free throw line. We just couldnt score. We didnt have the possessions they had in the second half. They outscored us 61-40 from the first half. You cant give up 20 extra points in a half and expect to win the game. (Jrue) Holiday made some big plays for them down the stretch, but we should have never been in that position.

Hornets Guard Eric Gordon

On the Hornets struggling in the fourth quarter:
It is disappointing because we were playing well in the first three quarters, and we had too many lapses on defense. They did hit some tough shots, but you dont want them to happen being on the run, and there were points during the game where we werent scoring offensively, so thats a bad combination.

On if Philadelphia took them out of their game:
We hurt ourselves. We took too many jump shots, and that is bailing out the defense. We didnt attack the rim. Thats where were best at. We just have to take it to the rim.

Sixers Post Game Quotes

Head Coach Doug Collins

On the game:
When you looked at the fourth quarter we had nine points off turnovers, we had four for the game. We had eight fast break points, we had five in that quarter. If you look at the hustle points, we were minus 22 in the first half and we finished the second half plus two. So our energy level picked up, we had some guys come off the bench and do a great job. Jrue (Holiday) was magnificent coming down the stretch, hit some huge shots for us. Our defense stiffened, we finally got their guards under control a little bit and (Eric) Gordon is such a tough matchup, with he and (Jarrett) Jack out there theyre both aggressive players. I thought we did a better job coming down the stretch with their pick and rolls and then Evan was great off the bench, we shoot 12 for 20 in the fourth quarter. We were three of six from three (point line) with seven assists and our defense is what created it, so that was a great win, I told our guys when you look back at a game like this average teams lose and teams that want to be good they find a way to win those games and thats what I was really proud with our guys. I thought we got off to another very sluggish start again and we dug ourselves out of it.

Sixers Forward Elton Brand

On the play of Jrue Holiday:
Young Jrue Holiday...I cant say enough. He really played well. Hes been doing that this season.

Sixers Guard Jrue Holiday

On his play late in the game:
I was hot like a pistol. I dont know...I just looked to be aggressive and luckily tonight it was falling for me in the fourth quarter.

On the road trip:
Its a road trip. We just tried to grind it out. First we had to fight back. I guess the young guys really put in our work tonight. Maybe next time, it will be the old guys.
