Postgame report: From the Jazz locker room

Utah Coach Tyrone Corbin
On the loss
“I thought the guys played hard. They made shots. We turned the ball over 19 times with 33 points. They (the Pelicans) played a better game.”

On the team’s effort
“We can always be better. But these guys are fighting and they understand where we are and they are still fighting. We made some mistakes and that happens, but these guys are fighting and they are giving it what they have.”

Jazz Forward Richard Jefferson
On how much the game changes when Anthony Davis is not playing
“It was big. Free throws and fouls, those type of things happen over a course of a game. You just have to go out there and play against whoever every night. You have to try and execute against the defense and not worry about who you’re playing or who is suiting up against you. You have to try and impose your will. They have a lot of talented guys on their team, three All-Stars pretty much with Eric Gordon.”

On the effort tonight and in the last few games
“We’re playing hard. We had some shots late in the game. We are rarely laying eggs. We’re out there competing, four or five minutes we don’t do a good job of executing and that can be the learning experience. Coach (Corbin) has done a good job of experimenting with different lineups like playing Derrick (Favors) and Enes (Kanter) more together, doing things different with spacing and the flow.”

Jazz Guard Trey Burke
On the play of Tyreke Evans tonight
“You can’t take anything away from him. He made buckets in transition and he got his teammates going. Without Anthony Davis we knew he was going to be more aggressive. I’ve been watching him since high school and that’s one of those times I’ve seen him play like that with the scoring, contributing and controlling the game that way. He’s a good player, can’t take anything away from him.”

On being close to tying or winning the game late and if fatigue hurt their scoring late in the game
“You can say that, I would think that’s an excuse. I’m sure other teams are just as tired as well because they play just as many games. We just have to continue to fight and close those games out. We definitely had a chance to win this game tonight. At the end of the day this is our job. We aren’t getting discouraged. We’re all good players and know we are capable. No matter what we’re sticking together.”
