Postgame report: From the Bobcats locker room

Bobcats Coach Steve Clifford
On Al Jefferson scoring 30 points or more for the seventh time in the last 11 games
“It’s unbelievable. He’s rolling. The thing is, it’s his efficiency. Until tonight, he’s also been getting a lot of assists. Our efficiency off of our post-up game has been so high. I just can’t imagine that many guys are playing a lot better than him.”

On Cody Zeller’s play tonight
“He played really well. I feel like he and Bismack (Biyombo) are rebounding and their defense and energy levels have given us a lift.”

On what Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour will bring to the team
“We’re hoping that they’ll bring a skill level and basketball IQ that will help make our team fit even better together. Luke is very smart, a good organizer, a good pick-and-roll player and can run a team. Gary is a terrific range shooter that has a very good feel for how to play. Everything is piecing your team together. You want guys that will complement your best offensive player and I feel these guys will do that.”

Bobcats center Al Jefferson
On tonight’s win
“It was a great win. Of course you’ll take any kind of win, but if we want to be the team that we set out to be, we can’t have fourth quarters like that where it got away from us. We were scoring, but we kind of got away from what we needed to do on the defensive end. We played well enough to win the game at the end, but it should have never gotten to that point.”

On his recent play
“I’m with the Charlotte Bobcats. It’s a new beginning, and I’m trying to establish something here. My teammates and I are trying to turn this franchise around and get to the playoffs. My teammates trust me, they play through me and they actually want to get me the ball. Now we’ve got some shooters, some veteran guys. (Gary) Neal has been in situations, has been in the Finals, and knows what it takes to get where we’re trying to go. I think this is a chance for us to really make a statement here.”

Bobcats forward Cody Zeller
On tonight’s win
“I’m excited for the win. We’re playing well right now. I’m trying to bring energy to the court on both ends, trying to get offensive rebounds and make plays on defense. We’re winning, and that’s all you can ask for.”

On his progress this season
“I think I’m just paying attention to the details more. On defense, I’m seeing plays before they happen, and on offense, I’m playing with more confidence. It makes my job easier when you can throw it to Al (Jefferson) and he’s got all the attention. I just try to work off of the other guys and make all the tough plays.”
