Updates from Wednesday morning’s shootaround in the New Orleans Arena:

• More negative news on the injury front, as Anthony Davis (concussion) will not be available to play for a second straight game. Austin Rivers (sprained left index finger) will also be sidelined against Philadelphia. Rivers started the first three games at shooting guard, but will be replaced Wednesday in the first unit by Darius Miller. Rivers sustained the injury during Tuesday’s practice.

• Monty Williams on Davis’ status: “You have to go through a number of protocols before you can (be eligible to play).” As a result of Davis’ absence, Ryan Anderson will start at power forward for a second time.

• Williams on being fined for comments related to the NBA’s concussion policy: “What I said was inappropriate, and you have to deal with the consequences. It’s unfortunate that it happened. You try to move forward.”

• Roger Mason on the Hornets being shorthanded: “It’s the NBA. You never know what’s going to happen, or who’s going to be available to play. Guys have to step up. Some of our young guys are going to get an opportunity to play that might not have been playing as much. This is what they’re paid for. They just have to be prepared and help us win.”

• Mason on New Orleans’ bench, which has made invaluable contributions during the 2-1 start: “All year, hopefully (it) will be a strength for the team. I definitely think our second unit has an advantage out there.”
