Shootaround update: Pacers at Pelicans

Updates from Wednesday morning’s shootaround at the New Orleans Arena:
• New Orleans’ listed projected starters are point guard Jrue Holiday, shooting guard Eric Gordon, small forward Al-Farouq Aminu, power forward Anthony Davis and center Jason Smith. Greg Stiemsma started the first seven preseason games at center, but Smith was moved into the spot in the exhibition finale at Orlando. Monty Williams was non-committal Tuesday on whom he would give the starting nod to vs. the Pacers, saying he’d announce it prior to opening tip.
• Also later today, Williams will be required to select one healthy player to be on the team’s inactive list. The Pelicans have a total of 15 players on their roster, but Darius Miller (foot) is unavailable for the near future due to injury. Since an NBA team can only have 13 active players per game, one of the remaining 14 players will need to be deactivated vs. Indiana.
• The Pacers did not hold shootaround this morning, as is the custom in the NBA for a second game of a back-to-back set. Indiana defeated Orlando 97-87 on Tuesday night in Indianapolis. The Pacers started their ultra-successful lineup from 2012-13, consisting of point guard George Hill, shooting guard Lance Stephenson, small forward Paul George, power forward David West and center Roy Hibbert.
• Holiday on Opening Night with his new Pelicans teammates: “I’m excited. I just can’t really wait for the time to come where we tip off. I’m really looking forward to tonight.”
