Notes prior to Saturday’s Southwest Division preseason game:

• New Orleans is expected to start these five players in its 7 p.m. game: point guard Jrue Holiday, shooting guard Anthony Morrow, small forward Al-Farouq Aminu, power forward Anthony Davis and center Greg Stiemsma.

• Brian Roberts is not expected to play after rolling his ankle during training camp. The backup point guard said he hopes to be ready to play in Monday’s preseason game at Dallas against the Mavericks.

• The Pelicans announced just before heading to the Toyota Center that they have released small forward Rodney Carney. As a result of the move, New Orleans now has 16 players on its current roster. An NBA team can carry a maximum of 15 players in the regular season. This year, the finalized regular season roster list must be submitted Oct. 28.

• With Roberts sidelined, along with the DNPs of Darius Miller (foot) and Eric Gordon (out while ramping up his conditioning), the Pelicans will have 13 players available for tonight’s game.
