Heat (57-15), Hornets (25-48)

It was over when… LeBron James drained his seventh three-pointer in 10 attempts, giving Miami an 81-58 lead during the waning seconds of the third quarter. Miami bounced back from a rare loss Wednesday in resounding fashion, building a big early lead behind James’ perimeter shooting fireworks. The reigning NBA MVP’s career high in three-pointers is eight. New Orleans dropped a second straight game against a formidable opponent, after losing to the Clippers on Wednesday. The Hornets will try to finish above .500 on their seven-game homestand Sunday vs. the Cavaliers.

Hornets MVP: Ryan Anderson (20 points) was one of the few New Orleans players who shot well, finishing 8-for-15 from the field and scoring at least four points in every quarter. The team’s starters combined to go just 19-for-45 on field goals.

Hornets Sixth Man of the Game: Darius Miller has been making strides lately in terms of his offensive aggressiveness, after often blending into the background early in the season. The University of Kentucky rookie contributed seven points in his 20 points of action. Through three quarters, he and Anderson accounted for all but two of the NOLA bench’s points.
