1) When he makes his NBA Summer League debut with the Pelicans, it will be in extremely familiar surroundings. Las Vegas is Jackson’s hometown. However, UNLV didn’t recruit him. Fellow 2013 NBA draft pick Shabazz Muhammad is also a Las Vegas native. “Vegas didn’t get that much exposure when I was coming up,” Jackson said. “Players like Shabazz have really helped (increase) that. It’s starting to get on the map now.”

2) He was the nation’s 18th-leading scorer in Division I in 2012-13, averaging 19.8 points per game. He also ranked 15th in assists. “I like to get my teammates involved, move the ball around and keep them happy,” Jackson said. “When it’s my time to score, I have no problem doing that, because I’m capable.”

3) You could count on him for a three-pointer just about every time he put on a Baylor uniform. He made at least one trey in each of his final 48 college games, a school record.

4) At 5-foot-10, you might not expect Jackson to be much of a dunker. Think again.

5) His high school, Desert Pines in Las Vegas, has already retired his No. 5 jersey.
