Five things to know on Day 17 in Las Vegas


USA Basketball1) Wednesday is the final day of practice for the 28 participants, including Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday, at the USA Basketball minicamp in Las Vegas. On Thursday night, NBA TV will broadcast the event’s showcase game, an intrasquad matchup at 8 p.m. Central (6 p.m. Pacific in Nevada).

2) In case you’ve missed either of the first two episodes of the “Black and Blue Report” on and, you can catch up by listening to past shows here. The 1 p.m. Central daily weekday program features prominent guests from both teams. Anderson will visit on Wednesday.

3) There has been much written nationally about Holiday’s enthusiasm to join the Pelicans. Watch this video, in which the point guard delves into specifics on why he’s happy to be coming to New Orleans in 2013-14.

4) Read more about Davis’ motivation to accept a greater leadership role for the Pelicans in Year 2 of his NBA career. The 20-year-old is now the fourth-longest tenured member of New Orleans.

5) In community news, the Pelicans recently combined with the Louisiana Legislators’ Charity Fund to refurbish a basketball court in Lafayette’s Picard Park.
