Five things to know about the Pelicans on Oct. 23


1) It’s finally a home gameday for the Pelicans, who host the Miami Heat at 7 p.m. tonight in the New Orleans Arena. Tickets can be purchased for Wednesday’s preseason game here. Listen to the game live on the Pelicans Radio Network (flagship station 105.3 FM) or via The game is also available on NBA League Pass (though local territorial restrictions may apply).

2) Listen to more about the visiting Heat on the Black & Blue Report from Miami TV broadcaster Eric Reid, who stopped by the show on Tuesday. Today’s show features a guest appearance from Miami Herald writer Joseph Goodman. It’s also another “Wesley Wednesday” on the BBR, meaning Pelicans TV analyst David Wesley will discuss the team.

3) The Pelicans hosted a media tour Monday of the revamped New Orleans Arena. The arena upgrades placed an emphasis on fan comfort.

5) The Pelicans will host two fan-related events starting Saturday. On Saturday morning, there will be an open practice for the general public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Doors open at the New Orleans Arena at 10:30 a.m. On Monday, a 2013-14 season pep rally will take place on Fulton Street from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
