Game Preview: IND at MIL
by Scott Agness
The Indiana Pacers have the Milwaukee Bucks’ number the last few years, winning the last five meetings and three straight on their floor. The Bucks (4-2) have started the new season strong and have won the games they should win. Their only losses have come to Boston and Memphis - both playoff teams.
The Bucks’ strength is in their backcourt with Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis. They each are attacking guards that can create and light up the scoreboard at any moment.
Two players the Pacers are especially familiar with are Mike Dunleavy and Marquis Daniels, both who played for the blue and gold. Dunleavy is third on the team in scoring and is shooting 65% from outside, good for third-best in the NBA.
Where the Bucks have lacked firepower is with their interior play. Luc Mbah a Moute hasn’t played this season as he continues to rehab a knee injury. Ersan Ilyasova, a 6-foot-10 power forward, is shooting just 28% percent from the field. And, combined with Samuel Dalembert, their frontcourt has averaged less than 10 rebounds per game.
For the Pacers, David West has been willing to take the ball and help push the team through their early tribulations. With former center Andrew Bogut no longer in Milwaukee and the rest of their frontcourt problems, could this be the game Roy Hibbert escapes the pressure he’s felt and gets back to his normal self?

- The Bucks have used the same lineup for all six games.
- Bucks coach Scott Skiles is in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and had his No. 22 jersey retired at Plymouth High School.
The Pacers took all three games last season by an average of 12 points. In their most recent battle, six Pacers scored in double-figures – Granger (29), Hill (22), and West (21) all scored 20+ – in a 118-109 home win on April 19th.
Brandon Jennings paced the Bucks with 27 points while Mike Dunleavy scored 23 in his only trip to Indy last season. Larry Sanders earned two technical fouls and was ejected with less than four minutes remaining.
It was the Pacers’ seventh win in a row, all while scoring at least 100 points per game.
