Pacers Open Eastern Conference Semifinals with a Gold Out
The Gold Out Returns for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Monday, May 5
May 3, 2014 – The Pacers and Wizards are set to square off in the playoffs for the first time in NBA history starting with Game 1 on Monday, May 5 (Time TBD). To kick off the series, all fans in attendance for Game 1 will receive a Gold Swagger t-shirt upon arrival to their seats. The T-shirt will feature the Playoff theme of Blue Collar Gold Swagger.
The Pacers entered the Playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. As the top seed, they secured home court advantage through the Eastern Conference Finals. That advantage would continue into the NBA Finals if the opponent is Portland, Golden State, Memphis or Dallas.
This is the fourth consecutive Playoff berth for the Pacers. In 2011, the Pacers secured a Playoff spot for the first time in five years. The competitive First Round matchup against the Chicago Bulls was widely considered to be the starting point for years of success to come under the Pacers' new coach, Frank Vogel.
In 2012, the Pacers advanced to the Eastern Conference Semi-finals after beating the Orlando Magic in the First Round. Gold Swagger was born in this Second Round matchup against the Miami Heat. When fans arrived to Game 3, over 18,000 gold T-shirts were placed throughout Bankers Life Fieldhouse creating a look George Hill fondly described as “mustard.”
This organic acceptance and appreciation for Gold Swagger made it a natural to continue during the 2012-13 regular season. The energy and enthusiasm created by Gold Swagger was combined with the heart and hustle associated with the Pacers team to create Blue Collar Gold Swagger. This theme officially launched on Opening Night in 2012 as every fan in attendance received a gold T-shirt featuring the phrase. It continued into the 2013 NBA Playoffs.
During the 2013 Playoffs, the Pacers beat the Orlando Magic and New York Knicks to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat. The Pacers pushed the eventual champion to a decisive seventh game before bowing out, but not before they brought international attention to Indiana, its team, and its fans.
The 2014 Pacers Playoffs are proudly presented by Key Bank, Kroger, Pepsi and Steak ‘n Shake.
