Senior (2008-09):
Named First-Team All-America by Sporting News, USBWA, NABC and
AP. Finished second in ACC in scoring (20.7 ppg), and sixth in rebounding (8.1 rpg), field
goal percentage (.514) and free throw percentage (.841). Named to ACC All-Tournament
First Team after averaging 25.0 points and 9.5 rebounds. Named to Final Four All-
Tournament Team after helping Carolina claim the NCAA championship. Scored 18 points
in both Final Four games vs. Villanova and Michigan State. Missed four games early in the
season due to injury.
Junior (2007-08):
Named National Player of the Year by the AP, USBWA, NABC and
Sporting News. Named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP, and NCAA East
Regional Most Outstanding Player. Voted ACC Athlete of the Year. Set UNC and tied ACC
single-season record by scoring in double figures in 39 games. Finished second in NCAA in
total points (931). Led ACC in scoring (22.6 ppg, 12th in NCAA) and rebounding (10.2 rpg,
17th in NCAA), and finished second in FG percentage (.540) and ninth in free throw percentage
(.806). Led the nation in free throws made (304) and attempted (377). Eight-time
ACC Player of the Week, a league single-season record. Led UNC to ACC Tournament title
with 22.0 points and 8.7 rebounds. Had 28 points and 13 rebounds in NCAA Elite Eight vs.
Louisville. Recorded 17 points and nine rebounds in Final Four vs. Kansas.
Sophomore (2006-07):
NABC, USBWA and Sporting News All-America First Team. Led
UNC in scoring (18.4 ppg, 4th in ACC) and rebounding (7.9 rpg, 2nd). Named to All-NIT
Tournament Team after averaging 21.3 points in four games to start the season. Averaged
21.3 points and 8.5 rebounds in NCAA Tournament, including 33 points in second round vs.
Michigan State. Named to East-Regional Team.
Freshman (2005-06):
ACC Rookie of the Year. Only player in ACC history to earn first
team All-America honors (Sporting News) as a freshman. Led UNC in scoring (18.9 ppg,
2nd in ACC).
Strengths:
Tenacious inside player with an excellent understanding of how to use his body
and strength to score in the post. His effort and intensity separate him from the pack.
Absorbs contact and either finishes or gets to the free throw line. Decent touch around the
basket, and will run the floor.

Led Poplar Bluff HS to back-to-back state championships. Son of Gene and
