QUESTIONOF THE DAY Conrad Brunner |

A. For a player who was here a relatively brief period of time, English managed to develop quite a fan base. Since the Pacers released him in the final cut of training camp last October, my e-mail from Canada (he’s a native of Newfoundland) has dropped substantially. English was one of three former Pacers summer leaguers or campers who wound up with the Charleston Lowgators of the NBDL, joining Rolan Roberts (a 6-7 forward from Southern Illinois) and Hiram Fuller (a 6-9 forward from Fresno State).
English averaged 19.1 minutes and 8.4 points in 45 games (two starts) with Charleston. Roberts started most of the season and averaged 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds and Fuller averaged 7.8 points and 7.0 rebounds off the bench. Fuller had a brief call-up to Atlanta, appearing in four games with the Hawks.
English has been invited to Seattle’s training camp this year, but he faces very stiff competition for a roster spot. The Sonics already have three veteran shooting guards in Ray Allen, Ronald Murray and recently signed Turkish sharpshooter Ibrahim Kutluay.
