INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers are participating in the NBA Fit Live Healthy Week as all of the league’s 30 teams have come together with programs in their respective markets to join community members and partners in highlighting the importance of living an active, healthy lifestyle.

The Pacers tipped off the local portion of their week-long efforts at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Thursday, Jan. 24 with an Employee Open House. Staff members from the Pacers Sports & Entertainment along with Levy Restaurants and Pacers mascot Boomer all participated in a program that included healthy snack options and fitness giveaways.

One of the highlights of the NBA Fit Live Healthy Week will be Monday, Jan. 28 when Boomer and Indiana Pacemate Desiree hold a Boomer’s Boot Camp for the students at the Chase Near Eastside Legacy Center, 2236 East 10th St., Indianapolis. Activities will include instructing the students on making proper food choices and proper exercise techniques. Participants will receive Get Pacers Fit giveaways which include T-shirts, posters and Pacers game tickets.

On Wednesday, Jan. 30, the first 5,000 fans to arrive at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the Pacers vs. Detroit Pistons contest will receive a commemorative Get Pacers Fit poster featuring Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, Pacemate Desiree and Boomer.

The week will finish off on Thursday, Jan. 31 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse when Pacers Sports & Entertainment along with Levy Restaurants present the Get Pacers Fit Live Healthy Event, which features a Boomer’s Boot Camp and a Health Fair from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Partners for the event include the Community Health Network; the Latino Health Organization; the Marion County Health Department; MDWise, Inc.; the Minority Health Coalition of Marion County; the National Kidney Foundation and the American Heart Association.

Children from the local Boys & Girls Clubs and community centers have been invited to participate in the Jan. 31 event. Among the guests slated to appear at the Pacers Clinic are Pacers forward Danny Granger, Pacers ABA legend Darnell “Dr. Dunk” Hillman, Celebrity Chef Nikki Shaw, Pacemates Desiree and Erika, Boomer and Billy the Kidney. Each special guest will offer nutrition and exercise tips to the participants.
