The 6-8, 245-pound Mavunga led Brownsburg to the 2008 Indiana state championship and was a two-time all-state selection. He won the state championships in Bankers Life Fieldhouse where he was teammates with Gordon Hayward, formerly of the Butler Bulldogs and now playing SF for the Utah Jazz.
Broke Miami's career games played record with 124 career appearances ... became the 34th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points ... finished with 1,389 points to rank 13th all-time at Miami ... finished his career ranked third in career made free throws (444), third in free-throw attempts (632), sixth in rebounds (799), seventh in minutes played (3,602) and ninth in blocked shots (72) ... ranked among Miami's single-season top 10 in games started (32, 2011-t-5th), minutes played (1,163, 2011-6th), made free throws (168, 2012-4th; 160, 2011-t-6th) and free throw attempts (229, 2012-4th; 227, 2011-5th) ... also ranks among Miami's single-game top 10s in made free throws, free throw attempts and minutes played ... ties for the Miami record in minutes played, logging 55 in a triple-overtime game at Ohio (1/9/11) ... became the 11th player in program history to earn All-MAC honors three times in a career, earning first-team distinction twice (2011, 2012) ... a two-time NABC All-District 14 selection, garnering first-team honors in 2012

Preseason East Division All-MAC selection ... one of just four players in Miami history--joining Dick Walls, Wayne Embry and Ron Harper--to lead the MAC in scoring and rebounding in a season ... averaged 16.4 ppg, which tied for first among MAC statistical leaders and averaged a conference-leading 9.0 rpg, which ranked 48th nationally ... also led Miami in assists (3.4 apg) for the second straight season ... knocked down 168 free throws on 229 attempts with both sums ranking fourth on Miami's single-season lists ... played and started all 30 games ... scored 20 or more points six times, including a career-high-tying 27 points against Southeast Missouri (11/26) ... recorded his 1,000th career point amidst a 26-point performance at Cincinnati (11/29) and also had 24 points at Troy (12/3) to surpass the 20-point plateau in three straight games ... also notched 23 points against Akron (1/7) and 20 points at Ohio State (12/22) and at Buffalo (2/25) ... amassed 14 double-doubles and ranked 26th nationally in number of double-doubles
