Local Highlights

The 6-8, 245-pound Mavunga led Brownsburg to the 2008 Indiana state championship and was a two-time all-state selection. He won the state championships in Bankers Life Fieldhouse where he was teammates with Gordon Hayward, formerly of the Butler Bulldogs and now playing SF for the Utah Jazz.

Earned First-Team All-MAC honors for the second straight year ... a First-Team NABC All-District 14 selection ... named MAC East Division Player of the Week on Feb. 6 following wins over Eastern Michigan and at Ball State ... Preseason East Division All-MAC selection ... one of just four players in Miami history--joining Dick Walls, Wayne Embry and Ron Harper--to lead the MAC in scoring and rebounding in a season ... averaged 16.4 ppg, which tied for first among MAC statistical leaders and averaged a conference-leading 9.0 rpg, which ranked 48th nationally ... also led Miami in assists (3.4 apg) for the second straight season ... knocked down 168 free throws on 229 attempts with both sums ranking fourth on Miami's single-season lists ... played and started all 30 games ... scored 20 or more points six times, including a career-high-tying 27 points against Southeast Missouri (11/26) ... recorded his 1,000th career point amidst a 26-point performance at Cincinnati (11/29) and also had 24 points at Troy (12/3) to surpass the 20-point plateau in three straight games ... also notched 23 points against Akron (1/7) and 20 points at Ohio State (12/22) and at Buffalo (2/25) ... amassed 14 double-doubles and ranked 26th nationally in number of double-doubles
