Summary

Full name is Jonathon Calvin Simmons... Born Sept. 14, 1989, in Houston... Son of LaTonya Simmons... Majoring in sociology... One of only six players to compete in all 30 games... Started all but one contest during his first collegiate season... Led the Cougars and ranked eighth in Conference USA with 14.7 points per game... Also finished ninth in the league with a 51.2 field goal percentage... Team leader in field goals (154), field goal attempts (301), free throws made (101), free throw percentage (71.6) and points (441)... Declared for the NBA Draft and signed with an agent following the season... Made his collegiate debut against Grambling State during the season opener... Posted 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists vs. Arkansas in Little Rock... Finished with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting with five rebounds and a pair of assists against TCU... Led all players with 22 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 8-of-10 from the free throw line, with six rebounds against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi... Topped all players with 26 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and an 8-of-10 performance from the free throw line at Texas State... Also added nine rebounds against the Bobcats... Recorded his third straight 20-point game with 20 points against Oklahoma during the first game of the RAMADA All-College Classic... Named to the All-Tournament Team following that performance... Competed for head coach Ross Hodge at Midland Junior College... Named to the WACJAC All-Conference and Region 5 All-Conference teams... Averaged 13.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55 percent from the field... Helped lead the Chaparrals to a 26-0 start and a berth in the Regional Finals... Ranked as No. 19 player in the country by JucoJunction.com... Named the Most Valuable Player of the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas. Freshman (2008-09): Competed at Paris Junior College.. Averaged 12.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while hitting 56 percent from the field... Nailed 45 percent of his shots from the 3-point arc...
