On Monday, Oct. 28, Pacers point guard George Hill led hundreds of volunteers from Pacers Sports & Entertainment and other local organizations in a community outreach event for Kids Against Hunger. Volunteers helped package meals for starving children both locally and abroad. The Kids Against Hunger campaign is designed to help feed the hungry and also send the message of volunteering to children in the community.

In February, George Hill sponsored another packaging event, where volunteers packed 45,360 meals. Over the summer, Hill traveled to Haiti with Kids Against Hunger to help deliver packaged food to local villages and host basketball camps for local children.

At Monday's event, volunteers started at 10 am with a goal of packaging 50,000 meals. The meals included high-quality white rice, a soy-based protein, and a blend of six dehydrated vegetables. Each meal contained 21 vitamins and minerals so that each child who receives one will gain necessary enrichment to their diet.

After five hours of service, the volunteers well exceeded their goal, packing 59,686 meals. Those meals will be distributed locally and globally to children in need of proper nourishment.
