Indianapolis, March 2, 2003 - Jermaine O’Neal is currently not with the team, taking time to attend to a family emergency.
O'Neal's stepfather, Abraham Kennedy, is in critical condition in Indianapolis’ Methodist Hospital, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound sustained Saturday night. Kennedy is a full-time security guard with Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
Neither Jermaine nor the Pacers will have any further comment.
