Indianapolis -- Mike Dunleavy could miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his fractured left thumb Friday.
The Pacers announced Dunleavy had the surgery "to repair a fracture in his left thumb Friday morning at Indiana Orthopedic Hospital" and that he is "expected to be out six to eight weeks."
If Dunleavy returns after six weeks, he would be eligible to participate in the playoffs but just two games would be left in the regular season.
Dunleavy, who started 44 of the Pacers' first 55 games, averaging 11.2 points and shooting .457 overall and .407 from the 3-point line, injured the finger in the first quarter of the Pacers' 113-96 victory in Washington on Feb. 22.
Brandon Rush started at shooting guard in the 102-101 victory over Detroit on Wednesday and was expected to remain in the lineup tonight against Utah.
Dunleavy becomes a free agent after this season.
