The Pacers reduced their roster to 15 today with the release of free agents Rod Benson, Demetris Nichols and Lawrence Roberts.

No further cuts are required before the Pacers begin the 2009-10 regular season Oct. 28 in Atlanta. The home opener is Oct. 30 against Miami.

Benson, a 6-10 forward from California, averaged 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in three preseason appearances.

Nichols, a 6-8 forward who previously played with Cleveland, Chicago and New York, totaled three points on 1-of-10 shooting in 25 minutes.

Roberts, a 6-9, 240-pound forward from Mississippi State, totaled two points and one rebounds in 15 minutes.

The Pacers have two preseason games remaining, Wednesday in Orlando against the defending Eastern Conference champion Magic, and Friday in Assembly Hall on the campus of Indiana University against the San Antonio Spurs.
