Allen and Gill Lead KeyBank Training Camp with Kids

On Wednesday evening, Pacers forward Lavoy Allen and former Pacers guard Eddie Gill took part in the KeyBank Training Camp at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The players guided several local children through a number of drills on the main court of Bankers Life Fieldhouse, teaching them the fundamentals of the game.

"I'm always down to help the youth," said Allen before the session began.

The camp started off with a game of knockout and even a little five-on-five. Then the real drills began, from layup lines to passing games.

For Gill, teaching kids the basics of the game is always a rewarding experience.

"I think there are great life skills in the game of basketball," Gill explained. "And I think it teaches you to go from one play, to the next play, and that's the game of life. Good or bad or indifferent, you gotta get from one moment to the next and see some success from it."

For Allen, the training camp is a bit of a warmup for the slightly more intense Pacers training camp, which begins in just a few weeks.

"Yes I do (need to work on my shot), I can barely get off the ground and dunk anymore, so I definitely need to work on my layups," said Allen with a laugh.
