“This new advertising campaign introduces Coach Jim O’Brien to the entire community,” said Donnie Walsh, Pacers Sports & Entertainment CEO and President. “His leadership, preparation and passion are what the Indiana Pacers will stand for and the effort they will put forth on the court and in the community.”
The campaign focuses on an honest and clear approach based on the philosophies of the Pacers’ front office and Coach O’Brien, who believes in preparation, hard work and the will to win.
“We talked with corporate and individual ticket buyers as well as hard-core, loyal Indiana Pacers fans and casual fans,” said Tom Hirschauer, President, Publicis Indianapolis. “Several points were universal: These fans and supporters know and love Indiana basketball. They want the Pacers to succeed and are willing to give the team a chance to prove themselves—on and off the court. The new campaign is a simple and straightforward expression of the Pacers fans’ attitude—a mindset shared by the Pacers organization, especially Coach O’Brien and Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird.”
The campaign strategy includes a six week push leading up to Oct. 31, the beginning of the 2007-08 season. Following this campaign, the themes may remain the same with specific game sales emphasized.
The advertising campaign was a coordinated effort of Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Publicis.
