Get Pacers Fit
As part of our commitment to Health, the Pacers team up with Kroger to present Get Pacers Fit. Get Pacers Fit is comprised of the following programs and events:
- Boomer’s Boot Camp
- Healthy Cooking segments
- Healthy Shopping segments
- Exercise Tip of the Month
- Nutritional Recipes
- Wellness Weekly Tips
- NBA Fit Week
Responding to the continuing decline of physical education programs in many of our schools and the lack of physical activity in today’s youth, the primary goal of Get Pacers Fit is to help children develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to adopt a physically active and healthy lifestyle.
As part of Get Pacers Fit, the Pacers have launched an interactive fitness-focused website for children on Pacers.com. On the website, kids can learn what helps the Pacers stay fit, find nutritional recipes and get fun exercise tips. In addition, teachers can visit the website to download the Get Pacers Fit and Food Guide Pyramid posters for their classroom to encourage and educate students.
Fans of all ages can log on to Pacers.com to view the Healthy Cooking and Shopping Tips from Celebrity Chef Nikki Shaw, discover new recipes, sign-up for Boomer’s Boot Camps and more!
In addition, Boomer’s Boot Camp visits area schools to help instruct students on making proper food choices and teaches proper exercise techniques, all to some wacky at beats. Boomer’s Boot Camp is available for schools with children in first through eighth grade, and can be booked by clicking on the link below.
NBA Fit Week
In support of the NBA, and as an additional feature of the Get Pacers Fit Program presented by Kroger, the Indiana Pacers participate in NBA Fit Week each season. The Pacers join with community members and partners to highlight the importance of healthy living and featured grassroots programs and events and online programming designed to inspire kids and families across the country to live active, healthy lives.
Riley Hospital for Children Basketball Buddies
The Indiana Pacers team up with Riley Hospital for Children to present the Riley Hospital for Children Basketball Buddies prior to every Pacers home game.
Through the Pacers Community Relations Department, 12 lucky children are chosen from an area not-for-profit organization to serve as a Basketball Buddy, where they receive an autographed mini-basketball from a member of the Indiana Pacers team, following the National Anthem.
Each participant also receives a Pacers goodie bag and a free ticket to that night’s Pacers game.
Pacers Summer Hoops Tour
The Indiana Pacers Youth Basketball Program will once again bring its very popular, week-long “Pacers Summer Hoops Tour” to five Central Indiana locations. The clinic, presented by McDonald’s and Gatorade, is free to children but is limited to the first 125 registered participants at each site.
The Summer Hoops Tour is conducted by Pacers legend Darnell Hillman and provides boys and girls from ages 8 to 14 a chance to improve basketball skills and learn life lessons from Pacers Alumni as well as players from the current Pacers and Indiana Fever rosters.
Additional features of the clinics include a t-shirt for all participants; prizes and giveaways; lunch; small group instruction and competitive games.
