Andre Iguodala … new Denver Nuggets’ uniforms … and Missy Franklin all have one thing in common – gold!

Nuggets newcomer Andre Iguodala won a gold medal at the recently concluded 2012 London Olympic Games. If you haven’t seen him play, get ready to watch the best two-way player to hit the Rockies since Bobby Jones!

Yes, Bobby Jones. For those of you that don’t remember, Bobby played offense AND defense in the same game! What a novel idea.

By the end of the preseason, the Denver Nuggets hope to be in midseason form.

With a road-heavy schedule that includes 17 of 23 games away from Pepsi Center, the Nuggets don’t have the luxury of experimentation once the regular season tips off Halloween night in Philadelphia.

“We have seven preseason games,” Denver coach George Karl said. “I feel we have to be ahead of everybody else because our schedule is very difficult early on. We have to have confidence in knowing who we’re going to play before the 20 games of experiments.”

The Denver Nuggets developed a love-hate relationship with the three-point line in 2011-12.

Loved the looks that they had, but hated the results.

The Nuggets shot .332 from beyond the arc last season, which ranked 24th in the NBA and represented their lowest long-range percentage since 2005-06.

Starting with Saturday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Nuggets are out to show that last year’s bout of inaccuracy was an anomaly.

Undrafted as a 23-year-old out of Hawaii, Anthony Carter seemed to be an unlikely candidate for a lengthy NBA career.

He spent his first year as a professional in Yakima, Wash., before joining the Miami Heat in 1999. Subsisting primarily on one-year contracts, Carter also made stops in San Antonio, Minnesota, Denver, New York and Toronto over the course of 13 NBA seasons.

At some point, Carter plans to join an NBA coaching staff or work in a front office. For now, he’s hoping to make the most of his opportunity as a non-roster invitee with the Nuggets.
