Nuggets RVSL Index
The Denver Nuggets took part in the Reebok Vegas Summer League for the second straight year, finishing a respectable 3-3 over the course of the league. The 2005 RVSL took place at Cox Pavilion on the campus of UNLV from July 7-15. The Nuggets will played six games during the competition, taking on New Jersey, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, Phoenix and the L.A. Clippers.
The Nuggets kicked off the competition with an 89-65 win over the New Jersey Nets, and then followed that up with a 92-77 victory over the Detroit Pistons. The Nuggets hit a bump in the road in their next two contests, losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers, 55-78, and the Chicago Bulls, 79-84. The Nuggets got back on track in their fifth game of the RVSL, taking down the Phoenix Suns, 87-79, but then closed out the league with a 78-94 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Luis Flores led the Nuggets in scoring throughout the six games, averaging 15.3 ppg. Nuggets' rookies Linas Kleiza and Julius Hodge also led Denver in rebounding (Kleiza, 6.2) and minutes (Hodge, 33.0), respectively. After having such solid showings, Flores and Kleiza were acknowledged by the summer league and named to the All-RVSL Second Team.
