Prospect Q&A: Trey Lyles

By Leonard Davis and Steven Blevins

Q: “You are the third player from Kentucky to work out with the Nuggets. Did you talk to Devin Booker or Willey Cauley-Stein before coming to Denver? Try and get an idea of what the workout was like?”

A: “I asked them what it was like with the altitude, and some of the drills they would do. They said it was good workout, it got a little tiring because of the altitude but it was good.”

Q: “Do you feel any added pressure during these workouts being one of seven guys entering the draft from Kentucky, being considered part of one of the best college teams ever?”

A: “No, with these, not to be selfish, but you have to think about yourself in this situation because you are no longer a part of that team. You just want to be successful going through this process, and focus on yourself.”

Q: “This isn’t your first workout this summer, how did today and the rest of your workouts go so far?”

A: “I think they went well. I came out and competed, I did what I was capable of doing. I shot the ball well, and played hard which is all I can ask of myself.”

Q: “Every team coming into the draft has different needs, did you try and familiarize yourself with those needs, or did you come in with a general game plan?”

A: “General game plan. If a team likes me, they will like me no matter what position I have to play. I am pretty flexible on the court, being able to play multiple positions. It’s really on me to come out and show what I can do.”

Q: “If there was one thing you would want the Nuggets organization and the fans here in Denver to know about you, what would that be?”

A: “That I am a team player, that I put the team first. I don’t care about individual statistics and accolades. I am more of a team first guy and will do anything it takes to win.”

Q: “There are only 10 days left until the draft. What else do you have planned?”

A: “A couple more workouts, a couple individual workouts. I will head to New York for the draft, and spend some time with my family.”
