Denver Selects Leon Powe, Trades Rights to Boston
Nuggets receive 2007 second round pick from Celtics

DENVER, Jun. 28 -- The Denver Nuggets traded the draft rights to forward Leon Powe, the 49th pick in tonight’s draft, to the Boston Celtics in exchange for a second round pick in 2007.

Powe was a Consensus Second Team All-American and an All-Pac-10 honoree during his sophomore season at the University of California. He led the Pac-10 in both scoring (20.5 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg) in 2005-06, becoming only the sixth player in league history to accomplish the feat.

With their acquisition of a second round pick from Boston, the Nuggets now potentially have four picks the 2007 NBA Draft. Most experts are considering next year's draft to be one of the deepest in years.
