Nuggets Acquire Taureen Green


DENVER, Feb. 21 -- The Denver Nuggets have acquired guard Taurean Green from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for guard Von Wafer, Nuggets Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced today.

Green, 6-0, 177, has appeared in eight games for the Blazers this season, averaging 2.1 ppg and 1.0 apg. He saw action in four games for the Idaho Stampede of the D-League, averaging 19.3 ppg, 9.8 apg and 5.3 rpg.

The rookie point guard was the 52nd overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft after his junior season at the University of Florida, where he was a member of Gators’ back-to-back National Championship teams.

Wafer appeared in 21 games for the Nuggets this season, averaging 1.3 ppg. He was signed for the remainder of the season on April 13, 2007 but did not appear in any games last year.
