Nuggets return to NBA Summer League in Las Vegas

by Aaron Lopez

Continuing a decade-long tradition, the Denver Nuggets will take part in Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas from July 11-21.

The Nuggets will join 22 other NBA teams and a team of NBA Development League select players in a tournament-style format at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the UNLV campus.

The participating teams will play three preliminary round games from July 11-15, before being seeded for tournament play. Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.

The Nuggets have competed in Las Vegas since the league’s inception in 2004, with some of their top young players such as Kenneth Faried, Evan Fournier and Quincy Miller showcasing their skills.

Other notable players to compete for the Nuggets in Las Vegas through the years include Jordan Hamilton, Ty Lawson and J.R. Smith.

The Nuggets have gone 25-20 during nine seasons in Las Vegas. They join the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards as the four teams to compete at the summer league each year.

Denver has the 11th overall pick in the June 26 NBA Draft. The selection potentially could be on the summer-league roster in Las Vegas.

Select Nuggets games will be televised on NBA TV and Altitude Sports & Entertainment. A full schedule of games will be released at a later date.
